The Size 8 Straw needle is thicker and longer than the Size 9 Straw needle.
Jeana uses it for both basting and hand quilting.
When using the template-free or back-basting method of preparation for applique, the Size 8 Straw needle is recommended.
You may also find, as Jeana did, that tiny quilting stitches are easily possible with the Size 8 Straw.
Best known for use in hand applique, the Straw needle has a narrow shank that glides easily through several layers of fabric.
Since the eye of the needle is punched within the existing shank, it does not hesitate at the eye when pulled through fabric.
